Approach to Therapy

I take an eclectic approach to therapy which helps me attend to varied client needs on a time to time basis. My presence in the therapy space is based in the Person-Centered Therapy approach and is queer friendly. The work from mind-body practices, relational and trauma approaches is also at the centre of my therapeutic framework within sessions. Keeping a non-diagnostic lens in my counseling work, I try to build a collaborative approach with clients and am open to feedback as well.

For my child clients, I take a mixed approach comprising play, arts, movement, stories and more, to utilize mediums that are most relatable for them. Giving appropriate agency and providing optimal safety in sessions are priorities to build healthy therapeutic relationships with them.
Specializations:

Adults & Adolescents: Stress & Emotional Challenges, Interpersonal Relationship Difficulties, Anxiety and Negative Thoughts, Workplace Concerns, Identity & Personal Growth, Grief & Loss
Children: Emotional Regulation, Anxiety, Peer and Family Disturbances

Couples: Communication & Expression, Conflict & Stress, Domestic Struggles

My approach to supervision is much like the therapy space approach – eclectic in nature. Based on the material emerging in the supervision, I circulate between relational, person-centered, cognitive and body approaches to work with the self of the therapist. At the same time, I bring in reflective questions, curiosity in perspective taking and directional explorations in context of case discussions. The sessions allow for dialogue beyond the content of therapeutic spaces, into logistical, thematic and overall practice based requisites as well. Depending on the needs, I also invite art and movement modalities into the supervision space. Beyond that, I am very open to feedback, in order to explore what might work best for my supervisee.
